The back protector must adapt to the anatomical bend of the athlete's spine and lie flat against the body. The top edge of the back protector must be situated in the area of the spinal column and may not go above the 7th cervical vertebrae (C7). The maximum thickness must be in the middle part and may not exceed 45 mm; the thickness reduces at the edges of the back protector. Designs with the view to improve aerodynamic properties are forbidden. The back protector must be worn underneath the competition suit.

The SHRED 2nd Skin Back Protector HD delivers Level 2 full-back protection in a lightweight, low-profile design built for alpine ski racing. SLYTECH® 2ND SKIN™ intelligent foam stays soft and flexible as you move, then firms on impact for adaptive protection. The minimalist design eliminates the vest layer, making it easy to wear close to the body under a ski race suit or outerwear.

HexaFlow™ 3D construction reduces bulk while promoting airflow and freedom of movement. An adjustable 3-Point Velcro belt supports the waist, while silicone-lined Grip-On-Straps™ at the shoulders help hold the protector securely in place. Certified to EN 1621-2 Level 2 for full-back protection and tested at -10°C, the SHRED 2nd Skin Back Protector HD combines higher-level impact protection with the mobility racers need on course.

Developed with the MIT Sports Lab, SLYTECH® 2ND SKIN™ is SHRED's proprietary intelligent foam engineered to remain soft and pliable during movement and firm on impact. The adaptive construction allows the protector to follow the body naturally while providing impact protection when needed.

HexaFlow™ 3D Structure

HexaFlow™ uses an engineered three-dimensional hexagonal structure to balance impact performance, ventilation, flexibility, and low weight. The design minimizes unnecessary bulk while helping air move through the protector during training and racing.

Grip-On-Straps™

Adjustable shoulder straps use silicone-lined Grip-On-Straps™ to help keep the back protector securely positioned while allowing natural upper-body movement. The strap-based construction also eliminates the additional material of a full vest.

3-Point Velcro Belt & Belt-Connector™

The adjustable 3-Point Velcro belt provides support and helps hold the protector close to the body. Belt-Connector™ loops add adjustment options for a secure, personalized fit over or under layers.

EN 1621-2 Level 2 Protection

The protector is certified to EN 1621-2 Level 2 FB for full-back protection. SHRED also tests its protective performance at -10°C for use in cold conditions, making the HD construction well suited to winter sports and alpine ski racing.
