  • Swix T-77 Economy Iron: Great economy iron which is competitive with far more expensive irons. Redesigned from scratch with an ergonomic body and a wide metal plate that suits both alpine, snowboard and nordic. Angled at one side to make it easier to keep a constant speed when melting the wax. The thick metal plate ensures a stable heating. Plate dimension 100mm X 160mm. 1000 Watt, 110 Volt.
  • Swix T-73 Digital Iron: 18 mm plate for great heat distribution with a digital microprocessor that ensures very precise temperature control. The T73 digital display is controlled by an adjustment wheel. Temperature range from 80°C to 180°C. 850 Watt, 110 Volt.
  • Swix T-72 Racing Digital - 12mm Thick Plate: A 12 mm plate gives optimal temperature stability. The iron is controlled by a micro processor and has digital temperature regulation. Ski Wax Iron Features vs Household Types

Many hot irons look alike and all give out heat, but there are many critical differences.

Ski wax irons features:

  • A thicker heat plate for heat retention
  • More heating elements for a more consistent temperature
  • Precision thermostats for holding to wax type specific ranges

Household irons don't retain heat well and quickly cool when in contact with a ski base that is at room temperature (not to mention getting wax stuck in those steam holes). They eventually heat up again, but will continue to have heat pulled out of them until the ski base sufficiently warms. The household type iron temperature will fluctuate widely in this heating and cooling cycle. People tend to turn up the heat in response to this fluctuation and run the danger of burning or otherwise damaging ski bases.

A proper ski wax iron is a relatively small investment when waxing those prize boards!
