Swix Base Prep Wax is a hydrocarbon base-conditioning wax designed to help ski bases absorb wax during initial preparation, regular maintenance, storage, and travel. Three formulations let ski technicians match the prep wax to the job: BP77 for conditioning skis intended for colder snow, BP88 as an economical universal base conditioner and travel wax, and softer BP99 for initial preparation of new skis and hot-box applications.
Regular base preparation helps maintain a well-conditioned base before moving into temperature-specific glide waxes and race-day preparation. Use BP77 when preparing cold-condition skis, BP88 for general base conditioning or protecting skis during travel, and BP99 when working with new bases or hot boxing. Swix Base Prep Wax is available in 180 g bars and 900 g boxes for individual tuning or higher-volume race-room use.

Wax Formulation & Performance
BP77 Cold Base Prep
BP77 is specially blended for skis intended for colder snow conditions. Use it to condition new ski bases or as a protective travel wax when preparing cold-condition race skis.
BP88 Normal Base Prep
BP88 is the universal option in the Base Prep range. Its economical formulation makes it well suited to routine base conditioning and travel waxing when a more specialized cold or soft prep wax is not required.
BP99 Warm Base Prep
BP99 has a softer formulation intended for initial conditioning of new ski bases and hot-box preparation. The softer wax supports base conditioning when wax absorption is the primary goal.
Fluoro-Free Formula & Packaging Update
Swix Base Prep Wax remains fluoro-free. Swix is gradually updating its product graphics, so packaging may vary slightly from the images shown. Some newer labels no longer display the fluoro-free icon even though the current product remains fluoro-free.
